CODE OF PRACTICE
The Little Sensory Explorer’s core philosophy is that all children have the same rights as adults, they must be treated in a caring, confidential, respectful and safe manner at all times. All children should be given opportunities to play, learn and develop in safe play spaces. Children and their families must not be discriminated against on the basis of race, disability, sexual orientation, gender – or to any other marginalised group.
The Little Sensory Explorers Practitioner must:
Be adequately insured and ensure that every activity complies with all current health and safety legislation, including hygiene legislation.
Risk assessments must be undertaken for each session. Be aware of choking risks when using small items/foods in classes. Always ensure that you are aware of any allergies, or known disabilities or medical needs prior to holding a play space.
Resources used in the sessions must be developmentally appropriate for the infants/children present.
Always work within the scope of your knowledge. Never claim to cure, diagnose a medical condition, or give unqualified advice.
Remember that creating and delivering play spaces is about supporting, teaching and empowering both parents and children within the session as well as to take the learning and play home.
Ensure that the physical safety of all participants is maintained at all times and government guidelines followed where appropriate.
Be reminded, all training materials and videos are the intellectual property of Little Sensory Explorers; they must not be reproduced in anyway, without permission.
The teaching plans and manuals are a guide for you to put your learning into practice; practitioners must use their own discretion at all times, and any ideas and techniques used are done so at theirs and parent’s own risk.
All practitioners are to behave in a responsible way to promote the power of play, and must not be brought into disrepute.
